Funny how the script always skips the part that actually matters. The reason Noelia tried to kill herself—the reason she’s now paralyzed and begging for the needle—was that, while the benevolent Catalan state had her tucked away in “protective custody,” she was gang-raped by three North African men. Not “assaulted.” Not “unfortunate incident.” Raped. In state care. The very institution whose “obligation to protect the vulnerable” her father cited in court.
