The standing rule is brutally straightforward: if the thing has never crossed your tongue, announcing you hate it is just cheap performance. Roasted raccoon and baked barracuda are the perfect exhibits. You can wrinkle your nose at the smell, invent moral objections, or quote a blog post written by someone who also never ate them. None of that counts. Until the meat is in your mouth and the aftertaste has registered, your opinion is decoration. It looks like conviction. It is costume jewelry.
The same cheap costume gets worn in politics. People who have never knocked a door, never sat through a zoning hearing, never watched a committee turn a decent idea into sludge still deliver final judgments as if they personally invented governance. They have sniffed the wrapping and declared the factory poisonous. That is not insight. That is a person standing outside the restaurant reviewing the menu like a food critic who refuses to order. Harsh? Correct. Funny? Also correct, because they keep doing it with a straight face.
Polyamorous relationships receive identical treatment. Spectators who have never negotiated three calendars, never survived the mandatory feelings meeting, never done the jealousy arithmetic still issue sweeping moral reports. They have read the recipe online and decided the casserole tastes like regret. They have not cooked it. They have not eaten it. They have only performed the grimace.
Once the experiment actually happens and the palate confirms genuine dislike, the rules flip. The raccoon has been chewed. The barracuda has been swallowed. The meeting has been endured. The group chat has been survived. Distaste is no longer a hypothesis; it is evidence. At that point refusal is not closed-mindedness. It is sanitation. You close the refrigerator, mute the thread, decline the invitation, and treat a second helping like an act of self-harm. Repeating a verified disaster is not growth. It is masochism with better branding.
The rule therefore has three clean phases. Phase one: keep the verdict in your pocket until the bite is taken. Phase two: once the bite has been taken and found wanting, treat a repeat as optional only if you enjoy paying twice for the same lesson.
With respect to 3rd world migration and multiculturalism, Western civilization finds itself still in phase two and as the completion arrives the verdict will become clear. Yes, phase one is mandatory and phase two will establish that there’s no going back. Phase three is the destruction process of unwanted neighbors, costumes and customs.
